According to private-sector payroll company ADP private-sector employment rose 43,000 in October. Jobs in the service-producing sector rose by 77,000, while those in the goods-producing sector dropped by 34,000.

Medium-sized businesses added 24,000 jobs and small businesses gained 21,000.

Employment at large businesses fell by 2,000 jobs.
